Summary:

The Dunnock is a small common bird often mistaken for a sparrow. However, unlike a sparrow it has a grey face and chest and a slender bill. The back and wings are a streaked brown colour with a thin white stripe on each wing.

Ecology:

The Dunnock sings from perches in trees and hedges to defend its territory. It uses its thin bill to pick out invertebrates from the soil underneath hedges and bushes, hopping and flicking its wings as if just about to take flight.

Habitat:

Woodland.

Distribution:

Throught the British Isles apart from the Scottish Highlands.
