Summary:
The Treecreeper is a small shy bird with a distinctive long thin curved bill that it uses to assist in climbing. It has a streaked brown back, wings and upper head. The underparts are pure white. A white streak runs back from the bill over the eye, looking like a little eyebrow. The legs are short, but feet large, ideal for climbing trees.
Ecology:
The Treecreeper looks like a mouse as it climbs up and down trees. It uses its long curved bill to probe tree bark for insects and spiders. Occasionally flocks together with tits.
Habitat:
Woodland, hedgerows
Distribution:
Throughout the British Isles, less so in the far north.
